Responsible Gaming
Last updated 17 August 2026
Our position
Gamble Alert exists to strengthen player protection and responsible gaming practice across Nigeria. This programme, delivered with the Imo State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, is built on the same principle: gaming should operate within systems that protect the people who participate in it.
Signs to be aware of
Responsible gaming means recognising when play stops being purely recreational:
- Spending more time or money than intended
- Chasing losses or gambling to escape stress
- Borrowing money or neglecting responsibilities to gamble
- Feeling unable to stop despite wanting to
Protection tools
Licensed operators are expected to provide practical safeguards: deposit limits, self-exclusion options, age verification and clear escalation pathways when a customer shows signs of risk. Building the capacity to implement these tools consistently is the core purpose of this programme.
